The Howlers campaign to help raise funds for Give a Mile has been so inspiring for me. To date, we have raised $ 3,000 and donated over 30,000 Aeroplan Miles. . We are moving into the final week of the campaign and I urge you to help the Howlers to support Give a Mile with the incredible work they are doing to help people to visit terminally ill friends & family that otherwise would not have been able to.

Take a minute to visit Give a Mile’s website (www.giveamile.org) to check out the incredible work they are doing and learn about the stories of people that they have been able to support at such a critical time. Truly inspiring!

Give a Mile is committed to a 100% donation model, meaning that funds and points raised by the Howlers campaign go directly to making flights happen and not to administration or salaries. Give a Mile is fuelled by a group of selfless volunteers, ensuring that all contributions go to achieving their mission.

As I mentioned, we are in the final week of this incredible campaign and I am asking for your help. Give a Mile cannot do it alone and here is how we can help. Give a Mile needs to raise $ 25,000 and secure donations of 1,000,000 Aeroplan Miles to make their 2014 goal a reality. In keeping with the spirit of supporting important endeavours, the Howlers are spear heading a campaign to help raise $ 10,000 for Give a Mile over the next month. Please take a moment to visit the Give a Mile website (http://giveamile.org/). I hope you can help support our campaign to raise $ 10,000 for Give a Mile.

I would also ask that you consider an Aeroplan Miles donation to the organization. The process is really very simple, just click onhttp://beyondmiles.aeroplan.com/eng/charity/515 and it will take you to the Aeroplan website where you can make your donation

Thank you.

Give a Mile Flight Hero Program

7/21/2014

I really appreciate all the support that so many of you have given to the Howlers campaign to help raise funds and Aeroplan Miles for Give a Mile. This group is enabling people to visit terminally ill friends & family that otherwise would not have been able to. So inspiring!

I recently learned about a Give a Mile program that I wanted to share with you. The Flight Hero program is an opportunity for you to take a lead role in raising the Aeroplan Miles required for a flight. Essentially, in coordination with Give a Mile, An individual makes the commitment to raise 25,000 Aeroplan Miles. Utilizing your network of family, friends, co-workers and rugby team mates, you take on the responsibility of helping to make a flight happen.

Here is how it works:

1.         Go to http://giveamile.org/flights/ to learn about the people that Give a Mile is trying to help.

2.         Contact Give a Mile’s Flight Hero program lead, [email protected], and make your commitment

3.         Raise the 25,000 Aeroplan Miles.

I understand that Give a Mile is more than happy to support and coach the Flight Hero volunteers, so you will have all the tools that you need to be successful.

But they cannot do it alone and here is how we can help.

Update on Give a Mile Fundraiser

7/14/2014

We have received a great response to the Howlers campaign to help raise funds for Give a Mile over the next month. To date we have raised $ 1,500.

The funds that the Howlers are raising for Give a Mile go directly to the taxes and related costs of flights and not to operations or administration. That means that every dollar we raise will be utilized to enable people to visit terminally ill family members. That is powerful.

Have you had a chance to visit the Give a Mile website (www.giveamile.org)? I was touched by the stories about the people that Give a Mile has been able to support at such a crucial time. Recently, Give a Mile was able to support an individual with a flight to see her father, who was dying of pancreatic cancer. Through Give a Mile, the daughter was able to travel across the country to be with her father in the last days of his life. This simply would not have happened without the support of Give a Mile. There are many stories like the one I have shared and I encourage you to visit the website.

They cannot do it alone and here is how we can help. Howlers to Support Give a Mile Fundraising

7/10/2014

You are probably very aware that the Dog River Howlers have made it their mission to raise funds and contribute to worthwhile endeavours, some of which are not related to rugby.

Give a Mile is a Not-For-Profit looking to enable people to visit terminally ill friends & family through crowd funding of flights via micro-donations of travel points. I was moved by the organizations purpose. Said simply, they are people who have felt the compassion and love in visiting with someone who is terminally ill. The great compassion and support a visit like this has to offer is a powerful gift we can give.

A little more about Give a Mile… The organization was able to complete 7 flights during 2013. Their goal is to complete 50 flights in 2014, and they are well on their way, having committed to 34 flights in the first half of 2014. Impressive!

They cannot do it alone and here is how we can help.
