It is basically is a modified version of rugby 7's using the established laws of the game but adding some North American flavour which will make for exiting, high scoring, first time viewer friendly entertainment. Imagine 60 minutes of this -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZjw-N4zM0g
Here are some of the basics of ULTRA 7's RUGBY:
- each team will be comprised of up to 23 players
- the game is played in four 15 minute quarters with a 20 minute half time break. There is also a 5 minute break between the other periods.
- random/rolling substitution like in basketball and ice hockey (the precise law modifications in regards to substitutions will be published in due course)
What are the benefits of ULTRA 7's RUGBY ?
- a high scoring game fast paced game which is relatively easy to understand by non rugby types.
- with the stoppages/intermissions like in ice hockey it is more conducive to a TV audience where advirtising/commercials are of the essence.
- teams have 23 players rather than 12 players involved which of course is beneficial for development of players. There is also now also room for some role /impact players big man in certain situations in a game
- the coach(es) like in the big 4 North American sports(hockey, baseball, basketball and football) becomes a real personality and has an ongoing impact on the game with his ongoing strategies and match ups.
